Obstacles / Perceptions?

Sometimes, I still will skip breakfast for whatever reasons...

Last Friday, I woke up late. My class started on 8am till 11am. I was planning to have my breakfast after class. However, I ended up waiting for my boyfriend to fetch me over for lunch until the time had passed and reached afternoon.

In the afternoon, only I realised that I skipped my breakfast.

*Fallen on that day - Fever*

Maintaining My Target!!

In order to reach my target, which is eating breakfast everyday!

I followed the Transtheoretical Model.

The 1st stage is PRECONTEMPLATION.
"I have no plans to eat breakfast everyday."
I did not have plans to change my behavior at first.
To me, skipping breakfast was due to lack of time. So, I was thinking that this can be part of my way to put on weight also.

2nd stage will be CONTEMPLATION.
"I want to eat breakfast everyday."
After I had done the exercise that I mentioned earlier in my previous blog. I realised the importance of breakfast because I do not wish to end my life earlier just because I did not eat breakfast everyday.
So, I was planning to eat my breakfast starting on the next day. But yet, there was no action taken.

3rd stage - Preparation
"I have bought and prepared some breads for my breakfast."
I went to night market to buy some breads for the coming days.

4th stage - Action
"I eat breakfast!"
The next morning, I had my breakfast.

Lastly, the 5th stage - Maintenance
"I am able to make sure myself eating breakfast everyday."
Every morning, I make sure myself eat breakfast. I also requested my family members to remind me of eating breakfast. When there were some challenges appear, I felt nervous and disappointment if I was not able to had my breakfast.

However, before Chinese New Year, there were some failures on my target.

Receiving Comments...

Today, I had received some comments in school.

Haha. Ms. A told me, after seeing my blog, her felt left out alot for her own blog. She also gave me some suggested me to give a brief introduction for my blog. This is because people might felt very weird that why is it all about BREAKFAST?

I guess she was right, people who I did not inform them about my blog would not understand what I am going to talk about.

My lecturer also suggested me to be more focus on BREAKFAST... So, if anyone of you all wan to know my personal life story. Do tell me so. I have one private blog.

Sharing My Happiness...

I found that this behavior change exercise is quite interesting,
I started to make breakfast for others as well.

Today, I prepared 2 sets of breakfast. One for myself and one for Jun Kit.

It was like I am able to manage my time better. I am able to make breakfast for others and myself. I feel happy to share something good for others.
Preparing breakfast is just like helping others. People who eat the breakfast is happy, and people who see others eating the breakfast they made is also happy too.

As a conclusion, breakfast is nice to be share and eat together with your friends and family.

Breakfast or Lunch?

Today,
My class start at 11.00am,
however, I reached school at 9.30am.

It was still early, later I have class straight until 3pm.
And start again at 3.30pm-7pm.

I wandered what should I eat for my breakfast,
if I eat too little, I might get hungry b4 3pm. Besides, I might not have enough time to eat at 3pm.

So, I decided to eat a Nyonya Fried Rice instead of bread. I wandered if this is really suitable to be a breakfast. What is breakfast?

It Was Scary!

It was soo close!

I was late for class! Really late already this time!

It was all because I was rushing for my assignment at the night before.

My boyfriend already waiting for me outside to fetch me to school.

But I just woke up!@.@



I was not in time to grab a slice of bread, nevertheless, my own bottle.

Rushing all the way to school, I did not have any food to chew in car while travelling to school. I was really hope that I could have more time to grab something to be my breakfast to eat in car.



Jun Kit (my boyfriend) did not have a class today. He was rushing to school for me. I felt very guilty. Just because I overslept, I did not able to feed my empty tummy, someone else had to rush with me as well.



My class end at 11am. Jun Kit was the one who will be fetching me to Psychology of Vision Inner Healing workshop which had started on 9.30am. While I was waiting for him at Esso petrol station, I tried to find some food to eat. There was nothing else for me besides 'nasi lemak'. The 'nasi lemak' was at the cashier surrounded by cold air from air-conditioners. I don't like cold food. However, no oven was there to heat the food. I don't wish to skip my breakfast just because i was late. Besides 'nasi lemak', I did not have other choice because I am a vegetarian. Chicken curry puff was definitely cannot be my breakfast.



When I just about to pay money, 'Ring.. Ring...' my phone rang. Jun Kit reached. I also gave up the 'nasi lemak'. This time he was also late to pick me actually. So, he came with his bike! Oh my goodness!!!! I had never sit on bike at town before, I also didn't sit on bike for 3years already.

Besides riding on my dad's motor and my cousin's motor while I was a child, I never ride on others bike before. Moreover, if my mum know I ride on motor, she is going to nag me for the whole day! I did not have other option since I was rushing for workshop. It is also impossible for Jun Kit to go home and get his car because he meant to do it=.= He knew I won't be riding with him when I have the choice. It was also one of his wish after we have been dating for about 1.5years.



When I reach my destination, he took out some food from the bike's saddle. It was my favourite 'tau fu fa', a jelly-like Chinese dessert which similar to bean curb and red bean bread. I thought he forgotten that I mentioned to bring me some breakfast after my class. My day was brighter after I had my breakfast. Especially breakfast with my favourite 'tau fu fa'! xD

It was soo close! I almost skipped my breakfast and fail my challenge!
I feel really grateful that I have someone to help me to stay away from failure and at the same time get me a wonderful breakfast. ^@^

1st BLOCKAGE...


It was only the 7th day.
I was too busy with mum stuff and my assignment again.

Today,
early in the morning, I spent my day on exploring an unfamiliar software, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 16). When I am done with my work, it was already time to go school.

Therefore, I did not eat any breakfast. However, I did not want to fail my challenge, so, during my class break, I bought donouts to be my breakfast.

Attitude is really a big problem to maintain success!

As Day Passes By...

This is weird!
There were few times already I did not have the enthusiasm yet to prepare my breakfast. However, my mum will always nag me to eat my breakfast already.

This makes me slightly confused. Did I have my breakfast before I start this challenge? LOL.
Well, when my mum is free, the chances I eat my breakfast will eventually more when she is not around.

I could not believe that I needed someone to nag me to feed my own stomach=.=
This is going to be a laughter for preschoolers if they know a University student needs mum to nag him or her for breakfast(=_=)

Reason Why I Didn't Eat Breakfast Regularly

Today is the 2nd day for my breakfast challenge...


I found that it was actually not really difficult to have myself a nutritious breakfast. Perhaps, eating breakfast regularly is the main problem for me.


Breakfast... is not bittergourd or herbal soup..
so why is it soo difficult for me to eat it every morning?

i can eat rice everyday, but why cant i eat bread every morning?

Reason i do not eat breakfast is surely not because of how the food taste....

so, why didn't i eat breakfast everyday?
if u are one of those who don't eat breakfast regularly as well..
u might try to think about it together wif me..

breakfast... is food to eat in the morning.
breakfast... is just a little, not very much.
Since it is little, so it does not take much time for us to eat it.
(=,=)
"did i just mention about time?" thus, obviously, time is a factor of why i din't eat breakfast.



well, now, we try to use another method to find out more reason...
IDENTIFYING THE PROBLEM



  1. Time. I did not have enough time to eat breakfast. Why?

  2. This is because I was rushing for school.

  3. Why did I have to rush to school?

  4. It was because I was late. (Late almost everyday?)

  5. Because I set my alarm half hour before I depart.

  6. That half hour was not enough for me to fit in some time to eat breakfast.

  7. Why didn't I set my alarm earlier?

  8. because i want to sleep longer.

  9. Why I want to sleep longer?

  10. Because I not enough sleep?

  11. Why not enough sleep?

  12. Because I sleep very late in the night.

  13. Why sleep late?

  14. Last minute to prepare for school tomorrow.

  15. Why last minute preparation?

  16. Because...(I was stuck, when i have to answer this question. )

  17. Perhaps this is the main reason I did not able to eat my breakfast everyday.


As a conclusion, Last minutes preparation is the attitude which I have that blocked myself to have breakfast everyday.






However, I also had my cereal oats and bread as my breakfast today. Haha.. Success!

1st Day of my Mission

Haha... I took my breakfast at 11.20am together with my younger sister at a restaurant.
I ordered a mixed rice. I felt that mixed rice is like kind of packed and too much to be my breakfast.

Even though I do not have much appetite for it, with curry then everything will be very much tasty!

I felt it wasn't very difficult to eat breakfast in the morning, but one big problem is that the time I used to eat breakfast. Afternoon was just going to reach in 40more minutes. So, when I eat my breakfast that time, I will be slightly worried that when am I going to eat my lunch? If I delayed my lunch, then I will be very full to eat my dinner. However, if I skip my lunch, I think this is not going to be a good deal, as I decided to eat breakfast but not skipping my lunch.

After I was almost finish with my breakfast, I found out that my plan to take a picture of my 1st day breakfast was failed. I guessed I was too busy to feed my stomach already. Haha.

I guessed my 1st day MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

Why Did I Set 'Eating Breakfast Everyday' to be my Mission?

Well, before I start my grandmother story,





We must know, why is it important to eat breakfast?




According to Barbara Farner, an Extension Educator of Nutrition and Wellness Matteson Center,

There are many good reasons to eat breakfast:

• It helps to “break” the fast since the last meal eaten the night before.

• It gives you energy throughout the morning and you are more able to focus.

• Children who eat breakfast are able to pay attention in school and have more energy.

• People who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat at lunchtime.


Therefore, if you would like to have a good day, then you should start your day by having healthy breakfast everyday~!!



It was actually a sudden idea of what to do for my assignment.
My lecturer gave us an exercise yesterday during our lesson.

The exercise was cited from one of the teaching materials he got from the text book.
(if you would like to find out which book is it, i may find out for you)




In that exercise, there were 7 health practises shown.
  1. Getting seven or eight hours of sleep daily
  2. Eating breakfast almost everyday
  3. Rarely eating between meals
  4. Drinking alcohol in moderation or not at all
  5. Not smoking
  6. Exercising regularly
  7. Maintaining weight near the prescribed ideal
So, we were asked to check whether how many of these practises are we practising?
My answer was 4 which is practise 3, 4, 5, and 6.
From the text, Alameda Country researchers found that people who practised six or seven basic health-related behaviors were less likely to die than those who practise zero to three of these behaviors.
It was frightening. This is because I felt that all these health practises where just small little tiny things in part of our life. I do not wish to die earlier just because of these tiny practises. Thus, I had decided to set my goal to eat breakfast everyday.
I start my misson tomorrow morning!!!!
